The BMW E39 M5 Eventuri intake is designed to offer a complete solution as an upgrade to the stock airbox system. Their aim was to develop an intake system for the S62 engine which worked with the stock ECU map and MAF sensors and produced a genuine improvement in the driving experience. With the Patent Pending Venturi housing, they have ensured that the airflow remains as laminar as possible. Furthermore, the addition of a true cold air feed by adding scoops integrated with the front fog lamps results in the lowest possible inlet air temperature. This leads to an optimised intake system which delivers noticeable performance gains consistently.
The Eventuri Difference
The E39 M5 Eventuri system uses Eventuri's Patent Pending Carbon fibre Housings with a bespoke Gen-2 filter which provide an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the inlet tubes. Not just another cone filter with a heat shield but a unique design which invokes the Venturi affect.
PERFORMANCE
The standard airbox draws in air from behind the front bumper so the flow path is long and this introduces drag in the system. Furthermore the cuboid nature of the airboxes give rise to turbulence where the transition to the circular MAF tubes take place. Our system replaces the airboxes with Venturi housings which transition much more efficiently to the circular MAF tubes maintaining laminar flow. The filters draw air from a shielded part of the engine bay which is saturated with cold air from the integrated foglamp scoops. By keeping inlet temperatures low and improving the flow path efficiency, the engine is able to produce more power. The dyno graph below shows the comparison between the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake system on a standard car with standard map and exhaust. Dyno runs were done back to back on the same day and with the hood closed.
PRODUCT DETAILS
The Eventuri E39 M5 intake system consists of a number of components engineered to perform a specific purpose and fabricated to the highest of standards. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:
Each intake system consists of:
2 Carbon Fibre Venturi housings
2 High Flow generation 2 Air Filters
2 Aluminium Cowls for smooth airflow entry
2 Foglamp surrounds with integrated air ducts
2 Flexible Neoprene air ducting sections
2 Laser Cut Aluminium Shields
Laser Cut Custom Brackets
High quality Silicon couplers with BMW specification hose clamps
Carbon Intake Housing Assemblies
The filter housings comprise of the high flow filters, aluminium cowls and the carbon pods themselves. The carbon pods shroud the reverse mounted filter and smoothly shape the airflow down to the MAF tubes. This smooth reduction in cross sectional area invokes the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates whilst maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack - below is a diagram to show the comparison between our patent pending design and a regular intake system. Our bespoke filters aid the airflow moving through the housings and allow for an even velocity profile as the airflow exits the housings.
Foglamp Ducts
To supply the intakes with cold air we designed replacement Foglamp surrounds with integrated ducts. The area for cold air entry has been maximised for the given shape and size of the surround and the duct transitions to the supplied flexible neoprene ducting tubes. While the car is in motion, ambient air is forced into these ducts which are connected to the neoprene tubes to transfer the airflow directly to the intakes. This ensures that the intakes do not get heat soaked and the engine is able to draw air at ambient temperatures.
